Walking away with six awards, including three for Murdoch’s memorable presence at the West Coast Blues 'n' Roots Festival in Fremantle earlier this year, university employees will now go on to represent Western Australia at the national AMI awards in Sydney on October 19.
Murdoch University’s Associate Director of Brand Marketing Helen Moorhead said this was the fourth year in a row that Murdoch had been acknowledged by the AMI’s Awards For Marketing Excellence.
“We are continually exploring innovative ways to talk to our target audiences, particularly through social media. We want to increase familiarity with what we are all about at Murdoch – an institution with a social and environmental conscience where free thinkers are nurtured.”
The University won the Sponsorship, Green Marketing and the Experiential and Brand Experiences categories for its backing of Sunset Events’ West Coast Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival 2011. And the famous Murdoch-emblazoned red cardboard box chairs which were handed out at this event were singled out for praise in the Green Marketing category.
The university’s backing of the festival also made it a state finalist in the Education category, beaten only by Murdoch’s brand campaign – When Ideas Connect, Encounters are Created.
This campaign was also successful in the Marketing Communications (Business to Consumer) category while the university’s new student and staff web search pages were honoured in the Consumer Insight category.
Ms Moorhead added that the team were hoping to repeat the success of previous years and go on to win their categories at the national finals.
