Are you a student in regional Australia? Applications are now open for the latest round of George Alexander Foundation scholarships.
These generous scholarships, valued at $24,000 each, provide financial support for regional Year 12 students relocating to Perth to study at Murdoch University. The funds cover accommodation and living expenses for the first three years of study.
"Moving to a city to pursue further study can be emotionally and financially challenging," said Dr Marian Kemp, Director of Student Life and Learning at Murdoch University.
"These scholarships connect students from similar backgrounds while providing significant financial support, allowing these high-achieving young people to realise their full potential."
The George Alexander Foundation has funded these scholarships since 2008, recently renewing its commitment until 2018. To date, the Foundation has committed over $1 million to helping talented students attain a degree at Murdoch University.
"We are very grateful to the Foundation, and the late Mr George Alexander AM, for their continued support," said Dr Kemp.
"There is no doubt that these scholarships are opening new doors for regional students, while smoothing the transition to city living and tertiary study."
Scholarships are open to Australian citizens commencing full-time studies at Murdoch in semester one 2014. Students need to be able to demonstrate a history of high academic achievement, leadership and community service.
Applications for the latest round of George Alexander Foundation scholarships will close in January 2014. For more information, click here.
