Real Madrid, home of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, are running daily coaching clinics for children between the ages of six and 15-years-old.

They will be trained by Real Madrid head coaches Daniel Lopez and Ignacio Artola.

The event is supported by Melville City Football Club (MCFC), which has worked to bring the world class clinics to Murdoch University.

David Kindness is MCFC President. He said: “We are proud to welcome a globally recognised club like Real Madrid to Perth.

“This is an excellent opportunity for young players to learn from the very best. It’s also an opportunity to impress the coaches who are scouting new talent.

“Coaches working in Perth can also gain valuable experience simply by watching top professionals from Real Madrid at work.

“This is a fantastic event for the sport in Western Australia.”

Real Madrid Foundation Clinics Australia has been running across the country since April. Sessions on the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Central Coast all sold out.

The clinics arrived in Perth this week and will run every day until Thursday.

Players will be drilled in defending and attacking. They will also be schooled in Real Madrid’s approach to player development, the club’s training process and the Real Madrid Methodology, as well as theoretical and practical sessions.

Murdoch Provost Andrew Taggart said: “Murdoch University is delighted to host Real Madrid, one of the world’s great sporting institutions.

“This is an excellent event for both players and coaches to learn from professionals at the very top of their game.

“Murdoch’s fantastic sporting facilities support this activity, but it is our partnership with MCFC and the City of Melville Community Sport and Recreation which will see even better facilities at Murdoch developed in the near future.

"Murdoch is committed to building community partnerships through sport to grow meaningful links with local groups that add so much to the fabric of Melville. MCFC is one of these groups.

"I will drop in on the clinics to see how Australia's World Cup stars of the future are progressing."

Almost 50 children started the winter school holidays at the Murdoch Oval sports fields. Those who signed up for the sessions were handed their own Real Madrid training kit.

Separate education sessions for coaches will run throughout the week.

Real Madrid is one of the world’s most well known and successful football clubs.

Star players include Ronaldo and Bale, the world’s most expensive footballers, whose transfer fees cost the club a combined total of around $270 million.
