Australian cricket team training @ MurdochThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has chosen the playing fields at Murdoch University as one of the official training venues for the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2015.

West Indies and India will have the opportunity to use the grounds, which are located at the back of the Murdoch campus on Farrington Rd, for their training sessions in February and March.

Murdoch has recently developed key research and teaching partnerships with Indian universities, so to showcase their premier sporting team at Murdoch will be a wonderful opportunity to build connections with the sub-continent.

The Murdoch cricket grounds were officially opened in November 2011 after the WACA entered a partnership with the University to provide alternative practice facilities for its representative teams.

Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Andrew Taggart, said he was delighted that the greenfield site, which was maintained to national standards, would be utilised for the ICC Cricket World Cup.

“It’s an opportunity to showcase Murdoch and our world-class facilities to an international audience,” he said.

“It also aligns well with the strengths of our School of Psychology and Exercise Science which houses a $4 million sports science laboratory which is used for conducting sports research including cricket research.”

The training schedule for the Murdoch cricket grounds (which is subject to change at short notice) is as follows:

Monday March 2 – 2 to 5pm: West Indies

Tuesday March 3 – 10 to 1pm: West Indies

Tuesday March 3 – 2 to 5pm: India

Thanks Murdoch University for being Indian team's training venue ahead of 2015 world cup clash against West Indies on 6 March.

I am slightly disappointed with the news is that I didn't know Indian team was scheduled for practice session here in Murdoch. If I knew it, I would definitely come to see Virat and Dhoni. Love both these guys and the team India though I am an Australian..

Hope to see them once in my life.
