Murdoch teams rise to the challenge at UniGames

Murdoch's female basketball team and coach Vince Kelley celebrate their gold medal success

The Murdoch University team have risen to the challenge set by Vice Chancellor Professor John Yovich to finish in the top ten of this year’s Australian University Games.

Murdoch had its most successful result ever finishing eighth out of 41 universities. Last year the University placed 14th.

Some of the highlights included:

  • One gold medal and one silver in female’s kendo.
  • One gold in medal in men’s kendo.
  • Gold for women’s basketball division two
  • Gold medals in women’s 400m and 100m hurdles
  • Silver medal in men’s taekwondo
  • Silver medal in men’s tennis division one
  • Bronze in men’s cycling (road race)
  • Bronze women’s beach volleyball
  • Bronze in rowing
