The Hon Kim Hames MLA, Deputy Premier of Western Australia, will launch a new executive training initiative at the Murdoch University Peel Campus on September 14, 2012.

Run by the Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Peel CCI), the Business Education and Training Series Framework (BETSF) offers a foundation to improve services, product and business profitability, and will strengthen regional competiveness in the Peel Region.

The program has been partly funded by the Royalties for Regions program for four years and has Murdoch Executive Education Centre’s flagship program (Management Masterclass) as one of its three training tiers.

Dr Michael Connor, Program Manager at Murdoch’s Executive Education Centre, said the University was excited to be a program partner.

“We believe the Murdoch Masterclass will contribute to the continued success of the business community in the Peel Region, building capability confidence for people in existing management roles as well as for those with high potential,” Dr Connor said.

“The opportunities to network, share experiences and gain insight into current leadership and management issues are invaluable, and participants can benefit from the Masterclass’s strong focus on experiential learning, analysis and guided reflection.”

The Management Masterclass addresses topics such as strategic thinking, linking strategy to performance, people management and leadership communication, change management and innovation and encourages participants to link their learning on the program directly to action in their workplaces.

Thanks to a partnership with Peel CCI, the Murdoch Masterclass is being offered at a subsidised rate, which Peel CCI Business Engagement Officer Pabs Nagra said showed a commitment to the region’s long-term economic development.

“Offering businesses subsidised leadership training programs will have a ripple effect in spreading knowledge and information through our business community, to the ultimate advantage of the wider community,” Mr Nagra said.

Mr Nagra said the initiative added to his organisation’s current range of business marketing and promotional programs, including Business After Hours, advertising opportunities, consumer promotions and retail exhibitions and member promotions.
