Some of the biggest names in Australian healthcare will be gathering at Murdoch University in July to discuss leadership and how to overcome the key challenges facing the industry.

Over four days, beginning on Wednesday, July 6, the Winter School in Strategic Health Leadership and Management will give participants the opportunity to meet key academics and health industry leaders and gain insights into successful Australian healthcare organisations.

The seminar series has been developed by the Sir Walter Murdoch School’s Head of Health Policy, Associate Professor Francesco Paolucci, who believes WA’s future health leaders will need “a bundle of expertise” in different areas to help them overcome issues like rapidly growing health expenditures.

“International trends suggest WA’s future health leaders will need to develop health policy, management, economics, law, epidemiology, informatics and communications skills,” said Professor Paolucci.

“Leadership and fresh managerial approaches will be key to marrying excellence in health care provision with financial sustainability.”

Professor Paolucci said participants who enrol in the full event can potentially gain credits toward a postgraduate qualification.
