Free lectures by top health professionals July 1, 2015 Some of Perth’s most senior health professionals will be sharing their views as part of Murdoch University opening the doors to its Strategic Health Leadership and Management Unit during July. “This free lecture series is an unmissable event for anyone with an interest in health management,” said Associate Professor Francesco Paolucci. “It also gives prospective students the chance to get a taste for postgraduate study.” The lectures are part of the Strategic Health Management Unit in the Graduate Certificate in Health Policy and Leadership run by the Sir Walter Murdoch School of Public Policy and International Affairs. Professor Paolucci said that attendees of the lectures were also able to enrol in the unit, or in the whole graduate certificate. The program includes: Wednesday 1 July 12.00 – 2.00 pm Leadership and Management in Consulting in WA by Tanya West, Charge Nurse in ICU. 2.00 – 4.00 pm Leading and Managing Private Health Organisations in WA and Australia by David Ligvoch, CFO of Silver Chain Group. 4.30 – 5.30 pm Leadership and Clinical Engagement by Simon Towler, Medical Co-Director of Service 4 and Intensive Care Unit Staff Specialist at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Wednesday 8 July 9.00 am – 12.00 noon Health leadership and management: the perspective of the developing countries by Judith Daire, experienced teacher and researcher who has worked in Malawi and South Africa. 12.00 – 2.00 pm Leadership and ‘Wicked’ Policy: The case of AMR by Tarun Weeranmanthri, Assistant Director General, Public Health in WA Health. 2.00 – 4.00 pm Leadership and Health Financing in WA by Alain St Flour, Executive Director, Finance (CFO) for North Metropolitan Area Health Service.
