‘Curiosity, creativity and individuality’ on show at Murdoch’s biggest-ever Open Day July 2, 2018 Bright future: Explore the diverse courses on offer and get a taste of campus life at Murdoch Open Day If you’re looking for a better future or want to join in the fun for a day packed with entertainment and activities, look no further than Murdoch University’s Open Day on Saturday 28 July 2018. This year’s event will be bigger than ever, attracting thousands to one of Australia’s largest campuses where university life and diverse courses will be showcased. Murdoch University Vice Chancellor Eeva Leinonen said the event was designed to give visitors to the University a taste of campus life. At Murdoch, we value curiosity, creativity and individuality. The huge range of activities on the day will illustrate how we are nurturing ideas and solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. “Our Open Day gives everyone the chance to discover more about study options while soaking up the atmosphere at Murdoch’s stunning campus," she said. For prospective students, Open Day is the perfect opportunity to meet Murdoch staff and students for honest advice about study options and pathways to university while experiencing the exciting atmosphere. Murdoch University Event Manager Glenn Hamilton said this year’s Open Day would focus on all things tech. “Murdoch’s $2.6million state-of-the-art networking and gaming facility is expected to be a major drawcard for campus visitors who are interested in technology,” Mr Hamilton said. “There will also be plenty of opportunities for attendees to transport themselves into the world of virtual reality, where they can test their 3D painting skills, role play in a virtual classroom or play games designed by Murdoch students. “Visitors will also see how drone technology is changing the face of journalism and expanding possibilities in research.” Mr Hamilton said Open Day attracts thousands of visitors each year to the Murdoch campus, where there is always a host of fun activities to suit every taste. “Animal lovers can tour The Animal Hospital and campus farm, visit the petting zoo, or meet the trained therapy dogs who are eager for pats and cuddles,” he said. “Those interested in criminology can head to Murdoch’s purpose-built Moot Court to witness the Trial of Goldilocks or check the ‘Breaking Bad’ talk on why people commit crimes and explore which childhood environments contribute to antisocial behaviour. There is also live music, roving entertainment from comedian Famous Sharron, an explosive Chemistry Extravaganza Show, forensic investigations, free soft tissue massages and a huge range of food options. “Visitors can also check out our new Student Hub, nursing simulation suites with realistic, high-tech mannequins, the Media Arts Centre and simply experience a day out in our beautiful bushland setting.” Murdoch Open Day will take place from 10am until 4pm and the full program of events will be available soon.
